What will you see on the route?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The route begins at the beach of Cala Reona<\/strong>, a small beach of sand and rocks, ideal for diving and enjoying the views of the Cabo de Palos lighthouse. From here, you will follow the path that runs along the coast, passing through several coves with crystal-clear waters. In this section, you will be able to observe the karst formations that characterize the landscape, such as caves, arches and fairy chimneys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, you will enter the Calblanque natural park<\/strong>, a protected area that houses a great diversity of flora and fauna, as well as a geological heritage of great value. Here, you will see the remains of the old silver mining operations, which date back to the 19th century and which left their mark on the landscape, such as galleries, wells and waste dumps. You can also admire the fossil dunes of Punta Negra and Punta Blanca, formed thousands of years ago by the action of the wind and the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, you will arrive at Rasall salt flats<\/strong>, natural lagoons that were formed by the flooding of old mines and that are the habitat of numerous birds, such as flamingos, herons and stilts. Here, you can enjoy a spectacle of colors and sounds, as well as the tranquility and beauty of this place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to do the route?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The route is circular and has a distance of 8.64 km<\/strong> and a cumulative difference of 263 m<\/strong>. You have a difficulty easy<\/strong> and it is suitable for dogs. The route can be accessed from Cala Reona beach, where there is a car park and a beach bar. The route partly coincides with the GR-92, which is why it is marked in red and white. There are also information panels that explain points of geological and cultural interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route can be done at any time of the year, but it is recommended to avoid very hot or windy days, since there is not much shade or water sources. It is advisable to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water and some food. It is also recommended to bring binoculars, a camera and a bird guide, to make the most of the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
